Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev resigns with cabinet on Wednesday after President Vladimir Putin announced several constitutional reforms.


Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has resigned along with the entire cabinet in Russia. It is also being reported that President Putin is not happy with the work of the cabinet. Medvedev has been made the chairman of the Security Council. Medvedev took this step after Putin proposed a constitutional amendment.

The purpose of these constitutional amendments is to create a post so that even after the end of the President's term, Putin can continue to hold an important post in Russia. 

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in a televised comment that he is resigning in light of the proposed change in government by his leader. Putin thanked Medvedev for his actions and appointed him as the Deputy Chief of the Presidential Security Council.

Earlier, in his address to the nation, Putin indicated amendments to the constitution that would give MPs the authority to nominate the Prime Minister and members of the cabinet. Presently, the President of Russia has the right to appoint them.
