The Indian Army considers January 15 every year as Army Day and this year it will be celebrated as the 72nd Army Day of the Indian Army. There is a history behind celebrating Army Day. Let's know about this. When Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over as General Sir Francis Butcher on January 1949 as Commander-in-Chief of India.

This day is celebrated to honour the soldiers of our country. During this time, the army shows its strength. The parade is held in Delhi. In the evening on 'Army Day', the Army Chief organizes a Tea Party, in which the Supreme Commander of the three Services comprises the President of India, the Prime Minister and members of his cabinet. A ceremony is organized on this day, this ceremony took place at Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flame of the Amar Sainik) in New Delhi. Amar Jawan Jyoti is an Indian memorial that was built in memory of the martyrs and unknown soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who died during the war after the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.

The Indian Army traced its origins to the military department, which was formed in the year 1776 in Kolkata under the government of the East India Company. With the motto of 'Service before self', the Indian Army is on a mission to ensure national security, national unity.
