LinkedIn Data Breach and Hacking

Personal Data of 92% Users is at risk...data from 700 million users is now available on the dark web. Privacy Sharks, a cybersecurity website, was the first to identify that new data records had been put up for sale.

According to reports, the sample set in the fresh leak includes information like email addresses, full names, phone numbers, physical addresses, geolocation records, LinkedIn username and profile URL, inferred salaries, personal and professional experience, background, gender, and social media accounts and usernames of affected users.

Linked said, "While we're still investigating this issue, our initial analysis indicates that the dataset includes information scraped from LinkedIn as well as information obtained from other sources. This was not a LinkedIn data breach and our investigation has determined that no private LinkedIn member data was exposed. Scraping data from LinkedIn is a violation of our Terms of Service and we are constantly working to ensure our members' privacy is protected."

LinkedIn denied reports of a 'fresh' breach adding that the latest leaked information put for sale on Dark Web is from April wherein user information was scraped from LinkedIn and other websites.

World’s Longest High-Altitude Road Tunnel - Rohtang Tunnel

The world's longest motorable roadway at an altitude of over 3,000 metres, is ready for opening in September 2020.

India now has the longest high-altitude road tunnel in the world. The longest high-altitude tunnel is now built after a long struggle of almost around ten years.


The Atal Rohtang Tunnel, an important from strategic and security point of view, built under the Rohtang Pass is the longest high-altitude road tunnel in the world.

The tunnel is along one of only two routes into Ladakh and will become key to resupplying the military garrison there. Well, the other route into Ladakh is through the Zojila Pass which connects the Kashmir Valley with Drass.

This Atal Rohtang Tunnel, built at an altitude of 10,171 feet, has been built by connecting it to Rohtang Pass. It is the world’s highest and longest road tunnel. It is about 8.8 km long. It is also 10 meters wide.

This tunnel will reduce the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 kms. Now a journey from Manali valley to Laual and Spiti valley, which normally took more than five hours would now be completed in little over 10 minutes.

In fact, it is supposed to ensure that there is uninterrupted traffic between Manali and Leh all through the year. Himachal's tribal district Lahaul-Spiti, too, will be connected with other parts of the state even during winters.



The tunnel will also provide a high degree of all weather connectivity to Leh and forward areas of Ladakh, which remain cut off for nearly six months from the rest of the country due to snow on the passes enroute. This is extremely significant from the military logistics point of view.

Within this tunnel, any vehicle will be able to run at a maximum speed of 80 kms per hour. The construction of this tunnel was started on 28 June 2010. It has been built by the Border Road Organization (BRO). This tunnel is built in the shape of a horse shoe.

This tunnel has very advance technology support system which provides a telephone every 150 metres, fire hydrant every 60 metres, emergency exit every 500 metres, turning cavern every 2.2 km, air quality monitoring system every one km, broadcasting system and automatic incident detection system with CCTV cameras every 250 metres.

ISRO creates history, country's most powerful communication satellite GSAT-30 launched.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched communication satellite GSAT-30 from the European Space Agency in the early hours of Friday through the Ariane-5 launch vehicle. GSAT-30 was dispatched via Ariane-5 at 2.35 pm Indian time.

GSAT-30 will replace INSAT-4A and will have greater coverage capacity. INSAT-4A was launched in the year 2005. His weight is 3357 kg. This satellite provides coverage to the Indian mainland and islands in the Ku band, Gulf countries in the C band, a large number of Asian countries and Australia. This is the 24th satellite of India, which has been launched by the Ariane rocket of Arianespace.

It is being told that GSAT satellite with a mission duration of 30 years is a functional communication satellite for DTH, television uplink and VSAT services. ISRO said that GSAT-30 communication payload GACO has been specially designed to put maximum transponders in this spacecraft. 

Accordingly, it will be widely used for VSAT networks, television uplinking, teleport services, digital satellite news archiving (DSNG), DTH television services, etc.

Vodafone, Idea and Airtel to repay 92000 crore dues, reconsideration petition dismissed

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the reconsideration petition, giving a major blow to Vodafone, Idea and Bharti Airtel. The Supreme Court rejected the petition and made it clear that the telecom companies would have to pay Rs 92,000 crore.

Earlier, the apex court had dismissed Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel's appeal for open hearing on the issue of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR). The two companies had requested the court to review the order to pay the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) about Rs 92,000 crore as penalty.

Telecom Companies Review Petition Rejected In Supreme Court

The Supreme Court had on October 24 ruled that non-telecom revenue should also be included in the AGR to calculate the payment of license and spectrum fees. The decision increased the liability of telecom companies to the government. 

This is the reason that Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Idea have announced to increase tariffs since December. After these two, Reliance Jio also announced to increase the mobile tariff from next month.

The court in its order on October 24 upheld the definition of AGR given by DOT. Thus ended the 14-year-old legal battle between the telecom companies and the government. The demand letters have been issued by DOT to these companies about a week ago.

The cabinet also approved a proposal to postpone the payment of spectrum instalment for two years while giving relief to telecom companies struggling with financial crisis. Giving information about the decision, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, Telecom companies are exempted from spectrum instalment payments for two years 2020-21 and 2021-22. 

According to sources, the decision of the government will give a relief of Rs 42,000 crore to telecom company Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio.
